Hi There! Hope you like the post you're about to read, if you do please consider subscribing to our rss feed...It's probably the best way to show your support for what we do.
A few days ago I purchased a 30″ Apple Cinema Display…just in case you’re not already jealous by the sound of it - here’s a pic of an understandably happy Mr Jobs.
Don’t you worry though, i’m not really here to gloat - i’m here to tell you that if you want to improve your online productivity - get a big screen, now. Frankly, the only alternative to getting 1 big screen is to get two or three. When I say big, I mean 23″+ .
Myself, if I could I would be purchasing another 2 possibly even 3 of the above - right now, obviously I’ll enjoy the elegance & crispness of 1. Why would I want four? Well frankly, the more the more productive I get. I’m not sure about you - but I find switching windows, spaces or profiles a real distraction and if I can - i’d much rather have everything either immediately visible or one click away. To give you an example of what you could feasibly do with the space - take a look at a screenshot of my firefox for example - try doing this with a 15″ or less:
And that’s really not the only way to do it…see the bar at the bottom? That slides up tor reveal my lifestream/microblogs & news sites which also fit perfectly well - but that’s for a different post.
Oh & don’t just take my word for it. Have a read of a study or two, or a couple of real people discussing it.
Soon, everyone will have large screens, many 2, some 3 and probably a fair few with 4. Personally, the faster I can get to 4 the better - for me, the limit is reached once I am literally having to call a taxi to get to the final screen. :]
Look, Al’s got the right idea.
