Mloovi. Translates Your Site into 24 Languages

Hi There! Hope you like the post you're about to read, if you do please consider subscribing to our rss feed...It's probably the best way to show your support for what we do.

Every now & again a tool turns up which could potentially expand horizons. Mloovi, in my opinion, is one of them. Mloovi uses google translate RSS feeds, so potentially any blog, into one of 24 different languages.

For those of you who are immediately put off by:
a) The thought of how long is might take.
Fret not, it takes seconds.
b) The thought of how awful the translation may be. Believe it or not, google translate works very very well. No, it’s not perfect - but it works a charm & I have had three hour long detailed debates & conversations using google translate & gtalk.

Give it a try at Mloovi.com/ & before you know it, your blog is published in over 24 languages!

Oh, if you fancy reading The Digital Foray in Spanish, Arabic or maybe French - just click to subscribe :] .

The 35 Greatest Speeches in History

The Art of Manliness blog has compiled a wonderful list of the 35 Greatest Speeches in History. If you’re a leadership or public speaking buff - definitely worth checking out.

My personal favorite being Winston Churchill’s “We Shall Fight on the Beaches” - but i’m probably biased being half British. I’m also half Iraqi, but doubt Saddam was considered for this particular post. :]

Wordle. Word Clouds made Beautiful.

I discovered a new tool today via friendfeed which you need to give a quick try. It’s called Wordle & it essentially grabs a bunch of words from either some text you to put into, or from your Delicious tags or from any rss feed or webpage - and creates a beautiful wordcloud not unlike the one you see below (which is for this blog by the way). You can see plenty more in the Wordle gallery.

You can customize it with a variety of different colours, you can change the word arrangement and they even give you a variety of fonts to choose from too.

Give it a try at wordle.net - heck, I even used it for my personal website’s homepage!

Productivity Gurus & Bloggers on Friendfeed

As a new blogger, big productivity fan and equally big fan of the the lifestreaming/feed aggregating/social community that is FriendFeed. I decided, after some inspiration from James at Organise IT , to create a list of all the Productivity Guru’s who have taken it upon themselves to use the service too!

If i’ve missed anyone shame on me…please add yourself via comments and I’ll add you to the main list over the next week or so. However, if you’re not on friendfeed already, then shame on you…Sign up! :)

Why Bigger is Better when it comes to Productivity

A few days ago I purchased a 30″ Apple Cinema Display…just in case you’re not already jealous by the sound of it - here’s a pic of an understandably happy Mr Jobs.

Don’t you worry though, i’m not really here to gloat - i’m here to tell you that if you want to improve your online productivity - get a big screen, now. Frankly, the only alternative to getting 1 big screen is to get two or three. When I say big, I mean 23″+ .

Myself, if I could I would be purchasing another 2 possibly even 3 of the above - right now, obviously I’ll enjoy the elegance & crispness of 1. Why would I want four? Well frankly, the more the more productive I get. I’m not sure about you - but I find switching windows, spaces or profiles a real distraction and if I can - i’d much rather have everything either immediately visible or one click away. Short review of WriteRoom by Hogbay Software

WriteRoom is a text-editor like product by Hogbay Software designed to make sure you focus on writing. If you haven’t tried it, it’s definitely worth a shot - below is a short, albeit, half serious review of it.

Just to warn you, you may need to squint to read the text…apologies.

ical Subscriptions on MobileMe and on Your iPhone

I ran into an issue today. I, like a number of you out there i’m sure, have a number of ical subscriptions which frankly are a must to have by my side (i.e. on my iphone) during my day.

Unfortunately, at this moment in time, mobile me doesn’t sync with calendar subscriptions…which is a pain & NEEDS to be fixed by Apple…

After a number of different attempts, I found a solution.

This is the process & it involves google calendar & busysync (although spanning sync should work too).

1. Get the url of the calendar you are trying to subscribe to. It usually is in the form of webcal://www.randomurl.com/user/feeds/ical/333242380e2

2. Create a new calendar by url. See the image below.

3. Next, insert the url into field available but remember to change the first part of the url from webcal:// to http://.

4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 for all the calendar subscriptions you have/need.

5. Next up go get busy sync or spanning sync and follow the instructions to install & sync the relevant calendars (which are now on google calendar) with the calendars on your ical. Click Here to Read The Full Post »
